What is a sleep management? and the best gadgets to help you sleep.

Sleep management is what happens after you finish a sleep study; it entails developing a long-term plan to manage and treat your sleep disorder. Sleep disorders can be treated using a variety of methods. PAP therapy (positive airway pressure) is a common treatment. PAP therapy helps keep your airways open throughout the night, preventing them from collapsing. This prevents you from stopping breathing and waking up during the night. It also allows you to keep your blood oxygen levels stable. PAP therapy involves wearing a mask while sleeping. To keep your throat open through the night, the mask must fit correctly so that a seal is created that doesn’t allow leaks and maintains the correct level of air pressure. Each person requires a certain level of air pressure. The level is typically decided upon during a Continuous Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) test, which is performed during an in-lab sleep study.

Other forms of treatment may include lifestyle changes. If you are overweight, weight loss can be an effective treatment. Quitting smoking and not drinking alcohol typically help as well. You may need to wear oral appliances, which fit over the teeth and are worn throughout the night. Some people may have surgery to reduce the tissue in their throats or to assist them in losing weight.

Sleep and technology have a bad reputation. Blue light from screens mimics natural sunlight and can keep us awake. This is accomplished by duping the body into suppressing melatonin production. When the sun is shining, we do not produce melatonin, which is one of several sleep-inducing hormones. Some people are more sensitive to blue light at night than others.

Soothe your racing mind, slow your breathing and relax your body so you can fall asleep faster.

Pulses a soft light on the ceiling - Match your breathing to Dodow’s soft blue light as it pulses on your ceiling. The light pulses gradually slow down to 6 cycles per minute creating the ideal rhythm to help you drift off to sleep.

Slow breathing primes your body for sleep - At 6 breaths per minute, your body’s baroreflex is stimulated. This lowers your blood pressure and heart rate, priming your body for sleep.

Go to sleep, or get back to sleep - Whether your problem is falling asleep or waking up during the night, Dodow can help you enjoy a more restful sleep. You can dim the light intensity to ensure your partner isn't disturbed.
